About Stanford
August 19th, 2005
Stanford University is one of the leading educational institutions in the world. For more than a century, Stanford has been a training ground for people who became leaders in culture, art, sports, science, technology, law and education. Located in central California’s Silicon valley, the University and it’s graduates have been central to many of the innovations and ideas that have shaped our world in the past decade.
We can change America from Stanford.
Stanford churns out a surprising number of presidents (Herbert Hoover), Supreme Court justices (Stephen Bryer), senators (Dianne Feinstein), leading scientists (Vinton Cerf, inventor of the Internet protocol), CEOs (Google), athletes (Tiger Woods), and actors (Ted Danson). As goes the campus, so goes the culture. Remember the 60’s?
We can change the world from Stanford.
One in every four students at Stanford is from another country; in fact, the most represented nations are India and China. These young people will go on to assume positions of leadership in their home country. For example, Stanford grad Alejandro Toledo is now the president of Peru.
We have an incredible opportunity for evangelism.
These future world leaders are more open to the gospel than they will ever be again. Students go to college expecting to reinvent themselves–we want to be a full-gospel witness while they’re wrestling with the great questions of life.
We must protect our young people.
Over 80% of Christian young people fall away from faith in college, and the percentage is even higher at elite schools like Stanford. This is unacceptable and we must take steps to reverse it!
Today they learn — tommorrow they lead.
