Hiking in Whiskeytown
This weekend I spoke at Central Valley Assembly of God in Shasta Lake. They were such a sweet church with a strong heart for missions. In fact, CVAG is the home church of one of the other single missionary gals in our district, Michelle Crowe, missionary to Ecuador.
After preaching and spending some time with the folks in Shasta Lake, I headed just east of Redding to the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area. It’s a gorgeous park, lots of water, huge trees, a variety of trails. I hiked up to Whiskeytown Falls, which were “lost” until a biologist noticed them on aerial photos three years ago. He hiked in, rediscovered them, and now there’s a steep but beautiful trail leading up to them.
They are so long, my camera could only capture pieces at a time, this is the base leading into the bottom pool.
After my hiking adventure (where I encountered some lizards and snakes I’d never seen before!), I attended Bethel Church in Redding for their Sunday evening service. Bethel is a growing church where exciting things are happening and worshipping with them was so refreshing.
I’m home now, getting ready for a busy week here. It’s finals/study week and we’re getting ready for our last Chi Alpha meeting of the quarter. We’ll be honoring our graduates and worshipping together on Wednesday night. Then it’s time to start planning for summer and fall–the cycle continues!
Happy June to you. Thanks for making it possible to be here for ministry. I’m still delighted to have this assignment!
